According to the Five Element Theory, the qualities of Earth, Metal, Water, Wood, and Fire, can be used to describe the basic elements of the material world. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the Five Element Theory is used to interpret all relationships between the physiology and pathology of the human body and the natural environment in which we live.
